Application requirements

MultiCare East Pierce Addiction Medicine Fellowship is seeking a Family Medicine or OB physician with strong academic skills for our fellowship program. (Will consider other specialties if there is a strong interest in caring for pregnant women and women’s health.)

Below are program specific requirements:

  • Board certified/board eligible by the American Board of Family Medicine or American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (or other specialty equivalent.)
  • Licensed in the state of WA by the time of Fellowship
  • Demonstrate experience and competency in teaching and patient care (obstetrics preferred)
  • Hospital call required
  • DEA, NPI & unrestricted prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
  • 3 letters of recommendation, with one from current/former program director if within 3 years of residency training or from current/recent direct supervisor

Salary

The present salary is shown below and is revised annually to maintain equity with the University of Washington Residency programs:

PGY4 – $71,248 (for 2024-2025)

Vacation and Sick Time

12 days sick leave, 17 days vacation, and 5 days of practice search

CME

5 days leave, $1500

Certifications

  • Certifications offered and paid for by MultiCare include ACLS, ALSO, BLS, NRP, and PALS.
  • ATLS and STABLE are offered in the region and registration fees would come out of the fellow’s CME allowance.

Housing

Fellows are responsible for their own housing, but while in the hospital call / sleep rooms are available. Apartments and houses are available in a variety of settings and price ranges within a reasonable distance from the hospitals and the clinic.

  • Fellows are required to be within a 20-minute travel radius of Good Samaritan Hospital when on-call.
  • Since several training facilities are utilized in the Pierce County area, automobile transportation is a necessity.

Malpractice Coverage / Medical-Dental Coverage

Professional liability insurance (occurrence type with no need to purchase “tail” coverage) is provided for fellows through the MultiCare Health System. In addition, a comprehensive medical/dental insurance plan, as well as group life and disability insurance, is provided for fellows and their dependents for no cost.

Other

  • One white clinic coat is provided for each fellow.
  • Parking is provided in the physician’s area.
  • There is free access to online library resources (pubmed, uptodate, etc.) through the University of Washington.
